Testosterone Deficiency: Causes and Symptoms

Testosterone deficiency may be the greatest issue men are facing these days. It is a sex hormone, which means low levels of it can kill your sex drive, decrease sexual satisfaction, and, on the whole, can take its toll on your sex life. So, why testosterone decreases? What leads to deficiency of this hormone? What are the symptoms of Low T? Many of you must be having these questions in your mind. So, let us answer these questions for you.

Testosterone can be defined as a male sex hormone mainly produced by the testicles in men. This hormone is responsible for a man's masculine appearance and sexual development and also affects secondary male sex characteristics such as deepening of the voice and hair growth on face and chest. The optimum levels of T hormone, which is between 280 to 1,100 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dL), are helpful in maintaining muscles mass and bone mineral density and keep a man’s libido high. Starting at age 40, the natural production of testosterone starts to decline, and it continues to drop further as men grow older. When this hormone drops too much then it causes issues like low libido, erectile dysfunction, muscle loss, weight gain, brustvergrößerung ohne op (gynecomastia), fatigue and depression.

Aging : As mentioned above, human aging is the primary cause of testosterone deficiency. As men reach in their late-30s levels of testosterone start to diminish, and the levels of the prolactin increases. The high levels of this by-product of testosterone stimulate the production of the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase (5-AR) that causes the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterones (DHT) in the testes and the prostate, thus triggering low levels of testosterone.

DHEA deficiency: Dehydroepiandrosterone, or DHEA, is a naturally occurring hormone produced by the adrenal gland. It acts as a precursor to male and female sex steroids, including testosterone and estrogen. Deficiency of this steroid hormone can affect testosterone levels in the body. DHEA is also used in many testosterone boosters to increase testosterone production.

Inadequate Zinc Level: Zinc helps to inhibit the conversion of testosterone into excess estrogen. Low levels of zinc block the pituitary gland from releasing lutein, a pituitary hormone which stimulates testosterone production.

Liver Disease: Chronic liver disease boosts extra estrogen and sex-hormone binding globulin resulting in reduced levels of testosterone.

Frequent sexual activity: According to Chinese herbalists, indulging in sexual activity more often will cause low levels of testosterone, which will lead to depression, male breast enhancement apart from causing sexual dysfunction and lower libido later in life.

What Are the Symptoms? - If you are currently experiencing decrease in sex drive and less interest in sexual activity then the possibility is high that you are suffering from the reduction of the testosterone production. Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the primary symptom that shows that you must be having testosterone deficiency. Many people with low testosterone levels reported to experience erectile dysfunction when they reached the climax during sex. Inadequate levels of testosterone will kill your interest in love making and force you to lead an inactive sex life. Men deficient of this sex hormone start to lose interested in having sex with their partner and it ruins their relationship too.

A big percentage of men with testo deficiency experience some other symptoms such as, baldness, poor concentration, sleep deprivation, breast enhancement, anxiety, depression etc.

There are several testosterone boosters available in the market that can help in improving the testosterone production naturally. But not all Testosterone boosters are scientifically proven and many of them might contain harmful chemicals that can cause severe side effects. In case, you feel the need of using a testosterone boosting supplement, look for the one based on herbal formula that has significant research behind it. It is equally important to consult your doctor before trying any dietary supplement in order to prevent any harmful consequences to your body.
